Surgery and the Ballet

Adding to the craziness of our life for the past 6 months has been a sick little M. We've been spending every two weeks for almost the past 6 months being diagnosed with ear infections...not to mention 2 rounds of RSV, strep throat, stomach bugs and colds...but ear infections have been the main problem. Yesterday M finally got tubes put in her ears and we couldn't be more thrilled! She did great with the procedure and had the surgery center staff eating out of the palm of her hand with her sweet smile.

It's amazing - in the past 24 hours we have seen a different child. M has had more smiles, giggles and energy since the surgery than she has consecutively in months. Don't let the picture fool you - she has been playing it up and enjoy the attention probably more than she should :)

We are praying that her ears continue to heal well and that we are done with infections for a while!

Today LG and I had a fun mommy and me date. We made it to the 2:30 show for the Alabama Dance Theatre's "Princess Stories". A roomful of little girls in princess gear, with crowns and princess Barbies is so fun. LG was excited about going but never in a million years could I have guess just how much she would enjoy it. I had the best time watching her experience the ballet for the first time. Through the first half she was completely mesmerized. She didn't even speak, which if you know her, is HUGE. She would just clap excitedly with all the other applause and smile. Priceless. The second act, in contrast, required lots of explanation since they only did excerpts of Cinderella, Aladdin and the Sleeping Beauty and not exact replicas of the Disney version of the stories. Just the same, we both enjoyed every bit of it. Since we got home LG has been dancing around the house in her ballet gear, insisting on talk about every detail of the ballet princess show. We've got some hysterical video of her for when she is older :)

Can't wait for our next adventure!

  1. What a sweet Mommy Daughter Date, I know she had fun, sounds like T would love it too. Prayers for better health, I kind of have the same story with Jamie.
